We are excited to announce major enhancements to Analytics that will help our users better analyze their operational data.
Analytics continue to be an important part of understanding the data coming out of your processes. Recently, we unveiled Analytics Insights, new charting layers that unlock powerful machine learning Forecasts, Statistical Process Control Charts, and Alerts based on outlier data. Now, we are bringing a fresh new look and feel to charts in dashboards and apps, and extending our layer capabilities with calculated control chart limits, trend lines, and more.
Try the New Visual Charts Experience
First announced at the Tulip Showcase, charts and graphs in Tulip have received a visual upgrade. This upgrade makes the charts more valuable for analyzing data, and lays the groundwork for new Analytics and dashboard updates to come.
These new visual charts give users a more intuitive way to understand their data by presenting it in an easily digestible format. Additionally, the charts are still interactive, so users can easily drill down into their data to get more detailed insights.
The new charting experience is available for customers now and in long-term support (LTS) release 10. Automatically Calculated Control Chart Limits
The first new Analytics feature is an option to use Calculated Limits within the Control Chart layer on time series charts. Using machine learning, you can now calculate limits automatically based on previously calculated data and use those limits to detect outliers as they occur, independent of statistical knowledge.
With a click your team can analyze data, rather than manually setting up control limits, and easily identify when a process is out of control to take corrective action before it affects products' quality. This helps reduce waste and downtime, and increase overall production efficiency.
Control Charts can be useful for monitoring values such as a reported length of a unit, to ensure that your production quality is within the acceptable tolerance. With calculated limits, your historical data creates these limits for you to ensure you are reporting within the correct tolerance, following the industry standard Six Sigma approach. In comparison to classical classical control chart limit calculation, this works with any kind of distribution - even more exotic datasets like bimodal distributions.
Alerts can be set up for any outliers in your data, enabling you to monitor process parameters without having to look at dashboards all the time.

Understand the Trends in Your Data With a Trend Line Layer
To quickly visualize the trend in your data, a new basic trend line layer can be added to line charts, bar charts, and dot plots. The trend line allows you to evaluate at one glance in what direction your metrics are developing, even if your data is noisy.
